We are kicking off the festival on Oct. 15 in a big way with an opening session at Entercom featuring local visionary Michael Rubin. Rubin is an internet entrepreneur (Kynetic, Fanatics, Rue La La, ShopRunner), criminal justice reform advocate, and a partner of our hometown 76ers.
At his session, Rubin will discuss the work he is doing related to criminal justice reform. Earlier this year, he launched an organization, The Reform Alliance, with Meek Mill, Jay-Z, Van Jones and others. The organization is lobbying for changes to state probation and parole laws.
A moderated discussion with Rubin will take place from 9:10 to 9:50.
But our festivities actually begin at 8:45 with a short kickoff ceremony featuring remarks by Mayor Jim Kenney; City Representative Sheila Hess; and B. PHL director and Independence Blue Cross Director of Innovation Michelle Histand. You’ll also be treated to a special performance by Philadelphia rapper Chill Moody. Chill wrote and recorded a new song all about B. PHL!
